Anna Friz: City at Night // radioCona REuse CITY: REuse RADIOJanuary 16. 2014 - January 26. 2014 (19.00) 0:
The city at night is a space of potential: filled with pleasure and danger, subversion, reclamation, and escape; described by its transformation from the quotidian arena of day into sites of shadow, ambiguity, and reverie. The nocturnal world of radio is a similarly charged space of potential, relieved of the routines the working day. Electro-magnetic activity is the invisible print of the city, with overlapping fields of activity passing through the built environment. Signals converge and the city is imagined and made.
"City at Night" seeks to rethink and reframe the urban through its nocturnal signals and through incursions across the social spaces and empty places of the city after dark. The resulting work culminates in the form of live nighttime radio performance in radioCona, compositions, and interventions.
radioCona REuse CITY: REuse RADIO (FM exhibition)
radioCona REuse CITY: REuse RADIO (FM exhibition) is a research exhibition project that investigates parallel processes of awareness about re-using the city and involves a re-use of the radio and similar mobile communication tools. REuse CITY: REuse RADIO traverses the reception and understanding of urbanised space through locative, GPS and FM frequency technologies. We are bringing together concepts that involve an intertwining and contact of radio art and sound location works with the physical space. The project presents the framework for location research projects in the area of radio and sound art. Specific works will reconstitute and deconextualise both artistic work and space which will be linked to work.
radioCona REuse CITY : REuse RADIO (FM exhibition) is a collaboration between Anna Friz, Irena Pivka, Jasmina Založnik and Brane Zorman.
